Orchestras
The Stockdale High School Orchestra Program serves to inspire and empower students through orchestral performance. Students at all levels of musicianship can find success in our program. We strive to create a collaborative environment that shapes our students into expressive, artistic individuals who value teamwork and a shared love for music. Through dedication and discipline, our students gain skills that extend beyond the stage and prepare them for success in any field.
In addition to our annual festival performances, we encourage students to participate in outside opportunities such as Grand Night for Music Honor Orchestra, All-State, CMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival, and ASTA and SCSBOA Festivals. This year, we are honored to be selected as an ASTA National Orchestra Festival Winner, where members of our Symphony Orchestra will perform in San Francisco in February, 2026!
Symphony Orchestra
Joined by our winds and percussion, this ensemble is the most advanced orchestra in our program. Students tackle professional level repertoire, focusing on enhanced musical artistry and mastery. Students develop leadership skills in preparation for collegiate and professional musical experiences. (Zero Period)
String Orchestra
This ensemble challenges students to refine technical skills, increase music literacy, and develop musicianship through more complex works. Ensemble coordination and application of skills is encouraged through a supportive learning environment. (Zero Period)
Concert Orchestra
Designed for intermediate students, this ensemble serves as an introduction to high school orchestra. Students focus on foundational techniques, music literacy, ensemble skills, and musical expression while building confidence in performance. (5th Period)
