INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Marching Band
The Silver Mustang Marching Band and Color Guard is a required ensemble for all members of the Stockdale Band Program. This group meets during zero and first period during the fall semester as well as Tuesday evenings. The Marching Band and Color Guard compete throughout Central and Southern California during marching season. The second Saturday in November each year, we host our own independent field tournament, The Stockdale Band Spectacular. The season concludes with the Bakersfield Christmas Parade the first Thursday of December.
Stockdale Percussion
Drumline is an integral part of our Marching Band. During the fall season, percussion students work together to support our band and solidify their technique throughout the season.
From January through April, drumline students perform their Indoor Percussion Show in competitive circuits throughout Central and Southern California. Our students are incredibly hard working and committed to the program and look forward to welcoming new members! While all students have a place in our second semester concert band ensembles, Indoor Percussion is an audition based ensemble.
Color Guard
The Stockdale Color Guard program is a year-long elective course. In the fall, the Color Guard joins the Marching Band to enhance our field show performance. Second semester, Color Guard competes in PPAACC and WGI circuits during their Winter Guard season. The team is typically divided into JV (new members welcome), and Varsity (audition only). This course meets zero and first period each day, and has an additional evening rehearsal during winter season.
